# Build your site from ChatGPT or Claude

> Connect Fimo to ChatGPT or Claude, describe the site you want, and put it online without leaving the conversation.

Describe your website in a conversation with ChatGPT or Claude. The assistant builds it with Fimo, shows you a live preview, and puts it online when you say so. You don't need to install anything or write code.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This page is for the ChatGPT and Claude chat apps. Using Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor? [Start with your coding
> agent](/docs/get-started/coding-agent.md) instead.

## Before you start

You need:

* A Fimo account. Sign up at [fimo.ai](https://fimo.ai) if you don't have one.
* A ChatGPT or Claude account.

## Connect Fimo

You do this once. Afterwards, Fimo is available in any new conversation.

> [tab] ChatGPT
>
> **1. Open Plugins**
>
> [Open ChatGPT plugins](https://chatgpt.com/#settings/Connectors)
>
> Select **+** next to the search box, then **Create custom MCP server**.
>
> **2. Add Fimo**
>
> In the **New plugin** window, choose **Create MCP app** and fill in:

> [tab] Another app
>
> Any app that supports remote MCP servers can connect to Fimo. Look for a setting named "connectors", "MCP servers",
> "plugins", or "integrations", and add this URL:
>
> `https://api.fimo.ai/api/mcp`
>
> Sign in to Fimo when the app asks, then choose **Allow**.

## Create your site

Tell the assistant what you want, in your own words. For example:

* "Build a website for my bakery in Lyon. We sell bread and pastries and take orders for events."
* "Make a portfolio site for my photography, with a gallery and a contact form."
* "Rebuild my current website, [www.example.com](http://www.example.com), with a fresher look."

The assistant may ask a few questions first: the site's name, its purpose, the pages you need, and the look you like. Share any real content you already have, such as your opening hours, prices, or a description of your business. The assistant won't make those up.

## Look at your site

When the first version is ready, the assistant gives you a preview link. Open it to see the site as visitors will.

In ChatGPT, you can also open **Site preview** from the side panel to watch the site change as you talk.

Ask for any change, the same way you would ask a person:

* "Make the header darker and the buttons orange."
* "Add an About page with a photo of the team."
* "Translate the site into French."

## Put your site online

When you are happy with it, say "Publish my site". The assistant asks you to confirm, then returns your public address.

To keep improving the site, come back to any conversation and ask for more changes. Publish again when you want visitors to see them.

## Edit the site yourself

Your site also appears in [Fimo Studio](/docs/studio/overview.md), where you can change text and images by clicking on them, see who visits, and connect your own domain name. Changes you make in Studio and changes the assistant makes stay in sync.

## If something goes wrong

> [accordion] Claude says to ask an organization owner
>
> On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, only an organization owner can add a custom connector. Ask them to add Fimo
> with the URL `https://api.fimo.ai/api/mcp`. You can then turn it on from **Settings**, then **Connectors**.

> [accordion] The assistant doesn't use Fimo
>
> Check that Fimo is turned on for the conversation, then ask again and mention Fimo: "Use Fimo to build my site."

> [accordion] The assistant says it can't make changes
>
> You may have approved read-only access. Remove the Fimo connector, add it again, and keep every access option
> checked when you choose **Allow**.

> [accordion] I want to buy a domain name or invite my team
>
> Ask the assistant to invite a teammate or connect a domain name you already own. To buy a new domain name, use [Fimo
> Studio](/docs/deploy/custom-domains.md).

> [accordion] I need more help
>
> Ask the assistant to "send a report to Fimo support" and describe the problem. It shows you the message before
> sending it.
