# The fimo CLI

> Create a Fimo site, build your site, and connect content, forms, media, and languages.

The `fimo` CLI is where you and your coding agent build and manage a Fimo site. Your teammates use [Fimo Studio](/docs/studio/overview.md) to edit the same site without working in code.

## Build your first site

You do not need a global installation. Choose your package manager once; matching tabs stay in sync on this page.

**1. Create a site**

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager npm
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager bun
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm dlx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager pnpm
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn dlx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager yarn
> ```

The setup signs you in, asks whether to create a new site or link an existing one, creates the site, installs
dependencies with the package manager in the selected tab, and can install Fimo skills for your coding agent. New
sites use the Next.js App Router unless you pass `--framework`.

**2. Open the site**

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> npm run dev
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> bun run dev
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> pnpm dev
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> yarn dev
> ```

Use the development command for the package manager you selected. Your coding agent can now build the site with Fimo content, forms, media, and labels.

**3. Check the site**

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npm exec -- fimo validate
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx --no-install fimo validate
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm exec fimo validate
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn fimo validate
> ```

Validation checks the site configuration and generates the clients your site uses.

> [!TIP]
>
> Ask your coding agent to read the site's `AGENTS.md` before it starts. That file points the agent to the Fimo skills
> it needs.

## Common build tasks

```bash theme={null}
fimo schemas push
fimo forms push
fimo labels list
fimo locales list
fimo assets list
```

The docs use `fimo` for brevity. Inside a site, run the installed CLI with the package manager that matches its
lockfile, as shown in the validation step above. For a one-off command outside a site, use `pnpm dlx`, `npx`, `yarn
dlx`, or `bunx` with `fimo@latest`.

For every command and option, see the [CLI reference](/docs/reference/cli.md).
