# Version history

> Inspect restore points and restore code and content together.

Version history gives each Branch restore points for its code and content. Use it before a risky change or when you need to recover an earlier state.

## Use history from the CLI

```bash theme={null}
fimo history list
fimo history list --cursor <next-cursor>
fimo history list --all-pages
fimo history show <version-id>
fimo history create "Before launch"
fimo history restore <version-id>
```

`fimo history restore` asks for confirmation and saves the current state as a safety point before it restores the selected version.

> [!WARNING]
>
> A restore replaces the Branch's current code and content. Review the restored Branch in Preview before you merge or
> publish it.

## Use history in Studio

Studio gives teammates a visual list with search, edit, and restore actions. See [Version history in Studio](/docs/studio/version-history.md) for the UI steps.

History is Branch-specific. To test a restore without changing `main`, create a Branch first:

```bash theme={null}
fimo checkout -b restore-test
fimo history restore <version-id>
fimo deploy -m "test: verify restored version"
```

Retention depends on your plan. Check [Fimo pricing](https://fimo.ai/pricing) for current details.
