# Start with your coding agent

> Paste one prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or another coding agent, and let it set up Fimo for you.

Your coding agent can set up Fimo on its own. Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or any agent that can run terminal commands:

`Read https://fimo.ai/docs/get-started/ai-coding-agents.md and set up Fimo for me.`

Then say what you want in your own words. For example:

* "Create a website for my bakery in Lyon."
* "Download my Fimo site and run it on this machine."
* "Bring my current website, [www.example.com](http://www.example.com), into Fimo."

The agent installs the `fimo` CLI, asks you to sign in through your browser, creates or downloads the site, runs it on your machine, and gives you a Preview link. It asks before it publishes anything.

## Do it yourself

Prefer to run the commands yourself? Follow the guide that matches your starting point:

> [card] [Create a site](/docs/get-started/quickstart.md)
>
> Create a site, run it locally, and publish your first version.

> [card] [Work on a Fimo site](/docs/get-started/work-locally.md)
>
> Bring a site that already lives in Fimo onto your machine.

## Give your agent Fimo skills

Fimo skills teach your agent how to work with Fimo. The agent installs them during setup. To install them yourself, or to set up another coding tool on this machine, run:

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npx fimo@latest skills install
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx fimo@latest skills install
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm dlx fimo@latest skills install
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn dlx fimo@latest skills install
> ```

Choose the coding tools installed on this machine. In a non-interactive shell, pass them explicitly:

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npx fimo@latest skills install --agents=claude-code,cursor
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx fimo@latest skills install --agents=claude-code,cursor
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm dlx fimo@latest skills install --agents=claude-code,cursor
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn dlx fimo@latest skills install --agents=claude-code,cursor
> ```

Hermes Agent uses the same bootstrap. Select it with `--agents=hermes`; when `HERMES_HOME` is set, Fimo installs the skill into that active Hermes profile.

The command installs a small bootstrap skill. It does not copy the full Fimo instructions into every site. Each teammate runs it on their own machine.

Inside a site, the agent reads `AGENTS.md`. New sites also include `CLAUDE.md`. Run `fimo rules sync` when another tool needs its own rule-file format. The command creates missing variants and does not overwrite files you have edited. Site rule files stay in the repository and arrive with the code.

The agent loads only the skill it needs for the task: `fimo-code` for application code, `fimo-cli` for site workflows, and `fimo-studio` for Studio tasks. `fimo-migration` covers site migration. See [Skills and rules](/docs/ai/skills-and-rules.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> To give a coding agent Fimo tools without a site checkout, add the hosted Fimo MCP server. See [Install in a coding
> agent](/docs/ai/mcp-tools.md#install-in-a-coding-agent).
