# Quickstart

> Create your first editable Fimo site, check it in Preview, and publish it when you are ready.

This is the human path to a first live Fimo site. Prefer to let your coding agent do it? [Paste one prompt](/docs/get-started/coding-agent.md) instead.

**1. Run the CLI**

You do not need a global install. Choose your package manager once; matching tabs stay in sync on this page. Check
the current CLI, then sign in through your browser:

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npx fimo@latest --version
> npx fimo@latest login
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx fimo@latest --version
> bunx fimo@latest login
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm dlx fimo@latest --version
> pnpm dlx fimo@latest login
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn dlx fimo@latest --version
> yarn dlx fimo@latest login
> ```

If account setup fails temporarily, sign in again with the same account to retry the unfinished setup.
If setup still does not finish, contact support instead of creating another account.

**2. Create a site**

New sites use the Next.js App Router template by default:

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager npm
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager bun
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm dlx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager pnpm
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn dlx fimo@latest init my-site --package-manager yarn
> ```

Follow the prompts to choose an organization and connect your coding agent. The command installs dependencies with
the package manager in the selected tab. To use the
canonical React Router template instead, pass `--framework react-router`.

**3. Open the site locally**

Move into the site and run its `dev` script with the package manager selected during setup. `fimo init` prints the matching command when it finishes. Keep this local server running while you and your coding agent work.

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> npm run dev
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> bun run dev
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> pnpm dev
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> cd my-site
> yarn dev
> ```

Open the local URL printed by the command. To make the first page editable in Studio, ask your coding agent to load
`fimo-code` and follow [First editable site](/docs/get-started/first-editable-site.md).

**4. Create a hosted Preview**

When the site is ready for review, deploy it to Preview:

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npm exec -- fimo deploy -m "feat: first editable site"
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx --no-install fimo deploy -m "feat: first editable site"
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm exec fimo deploy -m "feat: first editable site"
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn fimo deploy -m "feat: first editable site"
> ```

Fimo commits pending changes, pushes them, updates the Preview environment, and returns links to Preview and Studio. Preview is for review. It does not make the site public.

**5. Publish deliberately**

Review the hosted Preview first. When you want the configured Production source revision to go live, publish it explicitly. New sites use `main`:

> [tab] npm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> npm exec -- fimo deploy --publish
> ```

> [tab] Bun
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> bunx --no-install fimo deploy --publish
> ```

> [tab] pnpm
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> pnpm exec fimo deploy --publish
> ```

> [tab] Yarn
>
> ```bash theme={null}
> yarn fimo deploy --publish
> ```

Publishing is separate from Preview so a deploy does not make your work public by accident. See [Deploy and publish](/docs/deploy/overview.md) for the full workflow.
