Every site has one *.fimo.site URL. You can rename it for free. Connecting a domain you own needs an eligible plan.

Rename the Fimo URL

You can reserve the slug before the first publish. The URL starts serving the site after publication. To ask Fimo for available suggestions:
Review the suggestions before you claim one. Renaming changes the public address.

Connect a domain you own

Custom domains are available on Starter, Pro, and Enterprise. A Free organization cannot connect one, and every fimo domains command that touches a custom domain fails with a PAYWALL error until it can. Choose Starter or Pro in Billing to connect unlimited custom domains. See plans at a glance and the pricing page.
After fimo domains add, copy every DNS record shown into your DNS provider. Run fimo domains refresh to check the domain’s latest verification and certificate status. Do not share the domain until fimo domains list reports it as active and the site has been published.

The primary domain

The primary domain is the address search engines see. Fimo uses it for the canonical link and og:url of the published site. Fimo picks the first custom domain you added that is active with its certificate issued. For an apex and www pair, it picks the hostname the other one redirects to, www by default. When you switch the primary hostname of a pair, that hostname stays primary while it serves the site. If the primary domain is removed, transferred, or stops serving, Fimo uses the next active custom domain, or the built-in Fimo URL when there is none. Studio marks the primary domain with a Primary badge in Settings > Domains. To choose another primary domain, open the three-dot menu on that domain and select Make primary. The domain must be active with its certificate issued. Your other domains keep serving the site. From the CLI:
fimo domains list marks the primary domain with (primary). Publish the site again after the primary domain changes so its canonical links point at the new hostname.

Choose apex or www as the primary domain

When you connect an apex domain in Studio with the www redirect enabled, Fimo keeps both hostnames connected. One serves the site and the other permanently redirects to it. Typing the www hostname works the same way: Studio offers to add the apex too and redirect it to the www. If the site already has its www hostname, connect the apex the same way, or with fimo domains add example.com --redirect-www. The apex then redirects to that www, which keeps serving the site. If that www already redirects elsewhere, Studio adds the apex alone and the CLI refuses with REDIRECT_TARGET_REDIRECTS. To switch the primary hostname:
1

Open Domains

In Fimo Studio, open Settings and select Domains.
2

Choose the redirecting hostname

Open the three-dot menu on the hostname you want visitors to use, then select Make primary.
3

Confirm the redirect

Review the direction shown in the confirmation and select Make primary.
Fimo preserves the path and query string when it redirects. Your DNS records stay the same. The redirect changes at once; publish the site again to move its canonical links. The hostname you make primary must already be active with its certificate issued. Until then, the menu does not offer Make primary, or Studio asks you to try again once the certificate is ready.
Pick one primary hostname and use it consistently in canonical links, sitemaps, analytics, and search-engine tools.

Redirect a domain to another one

Each custom domain either serves the site or redirects to another domain of the same site. Use a redirect for an old brand name, another country domain, or any address that should send visitors to your main one. In Studio, open Settings > Domains, open the three-dot menu on the domain, and select Edit. Choose Redirect to another domain, pick the domain and the status, then select Save. Each domain shows where it goes, for example 308 www.acme.com. When you add a domain and the site already has a primary domain, Studio offers to redirect the new domain to it with 307; choose Serve the site to keep it serving. When you add an apex and its www together, the choice covers both: Serve the site keeps the apex redirecting to the www, and a redirect sends both hostnames straight to the domain you pick. From the CLI:
Fimo keeps the path and query string. To make the domain serve the site again:
fimo domains list shows where each domain goes: → 308 www.acme.com or serves. A redirect must point at a domain of the same site that serves the site and has its certificate issued. Redirects cannot be chained, so a domain that other domains redirect to cannot redirect itself. The CLI reports each refusal with its code, for example REDIRECT_TARGET_REDIRECTS.

Remove a domain

Removing a domain also removes every domain that redirects to it. The confirmation, in Studio and in the CLI, lists those domains before anything changes.

Buy a domain through Fimo

Domain search and purchase commands are available only when domain purchasing is enabled for your organization. If the CLI reports that purchasing is unavailable, use a domain you already own instead. When available, check the price before you buy:
fimo domains buy asks for confirmation and creates a browser checkout. Registration starts after payment. Domain purchases can be non-refundable, so confirm the name and displayed price before continuing.
Connecting or buying a domain does not publish the site. Complete a production publish before you expect the domain to serve it.

Manage a domain you bought

A domain bought through Fimo belongs to your organization, not to one site, so it is managed from the organization’s Domains area rather than site settings. fimo domains owned lists the same domains from the CLI. Each domain shows its status — active, registering, awaiting payment, expiring soon, or expired — with its expiry date and renewal price. Open one to reach Manage settings: Choose Renew now to renew before the expiry date. Fimo shows the renewal period and price for review, then creates a checkout. A renewal that has not been paid can be cancelled, which voids its invoice. Use Transfer to another site to move a domain to a different site in the same organization. Fimo also offers the transfer when you try to use a domain that another site already holds.
ICANN requires registrant contact information for every domain registration, and that information appears in public WHOIS records unless privacy protection is on.
